City of Water Day 2026 celebrates what it means to live with water: being on it, near it, and connected to it. From rivers and bays to creeks and canals, our waterways are central to community life across New York and New Jersey. By getting people out on the water via kayaking, boating, learning, and exploring, we build deeper connections to the waterways that shape our region and bring communities together.

This annual block party is always a neighborhood celebration, a gathering of NYCHA residents, children's and family activities, food/music/recreation, and a place for community organizations, elected officials and government programs to meet residents face-to-face. Battery to Bridges answered questions about the future of the East River Waterfront.

Our purpose is to create an informed public conversation about climate resilience, public access, open space, equity, and long-term stewardship along the Lower Manhattan East River waterfront.
