Welcome to batterytobridges.org, the website of Battery to Bridges Coalition, Inc. (“Battery to Bridges,” “BtoBC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).


These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of this website and its features.


By accessing or using the website, submitting information, registering for an event, participating in an online survey or poll, making a donation, uploading material, or otherwise interacting with the website, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.


If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the website.


1. About Battery to Bridges Coalition

Battery to Bridges Coalition, Inc. is a New York nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Our mission includes promoting environmental stewardship, public recreation, equitable access to green space, waterfront resilience, habitat restoration, and inclusive community engagement along Lower Manhattan's East River waterfront.

The website is intended to provide information, encourage civic participation, facilitate public engagement, communicate with residents and stakeholders, organize events and volunteers, and support Battery to Bridges' charitable mission.


2. Informational and Advocacy Purposes

Information on this website is provided for general informational, educational, civic-engagement, and advocacy purposes.

Waterfront projects, government proposals, construction schedules, budgets, designs, maps, renderings, plans, public-agency positions, and other information may change over time.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, material on this website should not be treated as official government information or as legal, engineering, environmental, financial, architectural, planning, or other professional advice.

References to proposed projects or potential improvements do not mean that a project has been approved, funded, designed, or scheduled for construction.


3. Appropriate Use of the Website

You agree to use this website lawfully and respectfully.

You may not:

  • submit false, fraudulent, threatening, defamatory, obscene, or unlawful material;

  • impersonate another individual or organization;

  • knowingly provide materially false information;

  • interfere with the operation or security of the website;

  • attempt unauthorized access to the website or its systems;

  • introduce malicious software or automated spam;

  • scrape or harvest personal information from the website for unauthorized commercial purposes;

  • use the website to harass or threaten another person;

  • upload content that infringes another person's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights; or

  • use Battery to Bridges' name, logo, or website in a manner that falsely suggests endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation.

We may remove submissions or restrict access when we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated.


4. Newsletter and Communications

If you subscribe to our newsletter or otherwise request updates, Battery to Bridges may communicate with you about our activities, events, public meetings, advocacy, volunteer opportunities, surveys, waterfront issues, fundraising, and related matters.

You may unsubscribe from non-transactional email communications at any time through the unsubscribe link provided in an email or by contacting info@batterytobridges.org.


5. Surveys and Polls

Battery to Bridges may invite website visitors to participate in surveys and polls concerning waterfront priorities, neighborhood needs, resilience, recreation, public space, programming, and other matters relevant to our mission.

Survey and poll results are intended to help inform community engagement and advocacy. Unless expressly stated otherwise, they are not scientific public-opinion polls and should not necessarily be interpreted as statistically representative of the entire community.

We may summarize, analyze, publish, present, or otherwise use survey and polling results in furtherance of our nonprofit mission.


6. Public Comments and Petitions

The website may provide opportunities to submit public comments, sign petitions, support advocacy positions, or participate in calls to action.

If a submission is identified as a public comment, petition, endorsement, or advocacy communication, you understand that your submitted name, neighborhood, organizational affiliation, position, and comment may be:

  • displayed on the website;

  • included in reports or presentations;

  • quoted in Battery to Bridges materials;

  • provided to elected officials;

  • provided to government agencies or community boards;

  • included with testimony or public comments; or

  • otherwise used in furtherance of the stated advocacy effort.

We will not intentionally make your private email address or telephone number public unless you expressly authorize us to do so or the applicable form clearly states otherwise.

Battery to Bridges reserves the right not to publish or transmit comments that are abusive, threatening, discriminatory, defamatory, duplicative, unrelated to the subject, unlawful, or reasonably believed to be fraudulent.

Submission of a comment does not guarantee publication.


7. Photographs, Videos, Stories, and Other User Submissions

You may have the opportunity to submit photographs, videos, stories, testimonials, documents, designs, suggestions, historical materials, or other content (“Submitted Content”).

You retain ownership of Submitted Content that you own.

By voluntarily submitting content to Battery to Bridges for publication or use, you grant Battery to Bridges a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, display, publish, distribute, adapt for formatting or length, and otherwise use that material in connection with our nonprofit mission, including:

  • our website;

  • social-media accounts;

  • newsletters;

  • reports;

  • presentations;

  • public testimony;

  • exhibitions;

  • educational materials;

  • grant applications;

  • fundraising materials;

  • press and media communications; and

  • other Battery to Bridges nonprofit communications.

We will not claim ownership of your original material solely because you submitted it.

You represent that you have the right to submit the material and authorize its intended use.

If a photograph, video, or other material prominently identifies another person, you represent that you have any permission reasonably required to submit the material for the intended use.

Do not submit recognizable photographs or videos of minors unless you have authorization from the child's parent or legal guardian.

You may contact us to request that we discontinue future use of Submitted Content. We will make reasonable efforts to honor appropriate requests, but we may not be able to withdraw material that has already been printed, published, distributed, submitted to a government body, incorporated into an archival record, or lawfully used by a third party.


8. Suggestions and Ideas

We welcome ideas concerning the East River waterfront and Battery to Bridges' mission.

If you voluntarily submit a suggestion, concept, proposed amenity, program idea, planning concept, or similar recommendation, you acknowledge that:

  • other people may independently have similar ideas;

  • Battery to Bridges may already be considering a similar concept;

  • submission does not create a confidential, fiduciary, employment, partnership, or compensation relationship; and

  • unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, Battery to Bridges may consider and advocate for the idea without owing compensation to the person who submitted it.

This provision does not transfer ownership of independently copyrighted creative work except as otherwise provided in these Terms.


9. Donations

Donations made through the website are voluntary and support Battery to Bridges Coalition's charitable mission.

Online donations may be processed by third-party fundraising and payment providers, currently including Zeffy and its payment-processing partners. Those transactions are also governed by the applicable provider's terms and privacy practices.

Unless a particular campaign or written agreement expressly provides otherwise, contributions are considered unrestricted charitable contributions that Battery to Bridges may use in furtherance of its charitable purposes.

If Battery to Bridges accepts a contribution subject to an expressly agreed charitable restriction, we will administer that contribution consistent with the applicable restriction and law.

Battery to Bridges will provide donation acknowledgments or receipts as appropriate. Whether a particular contribution is tax deductible depends upon applicable law and the donor's individual circumstances. Donors should consult their own tax advisers when necessary.

If goods or services are provided in exchange for a contribution, the deductible amount may be limited accordingly.

Questions concerning a donation or a request concerning a transaction may be sent to info@batterytobridges.org. Refund requests will be considered based upon the circumstances, applicable law, and the policies of the payment provider.


10. Events

Event information is subject to change.

Battery to Bridges may change an event's location, schedule, speakers, format, capacity, or other details when necessary.

Participation in an event may also be subject to rules established by the venue, event partner, government agency, property owner, or other organizer.

Where photography or video recording will occur at an event, we will endeavor to provide reasonable notice when appropriate.


11. Volunteer Activities

Submitting a volunteer form does not guarantee a particular volunteer assignment.

Volunteer opportunities may depend upon age, availability, qualifications, safety considerations, insurance requirements, event requirements, background checks where appropriate, or other reasonable factors.

Additional waivers, releases, parental permissions, or safety requirements may apply to particular activities.


12. Children and Minors

This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13.

Children under 13 should not submit personal information through the website without the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

Individuals under 18 should obtain appropriate parental or guardian permission before making a donation, volunteering for activities requiring consent, submitting photographs or videos, or entering into any transaction requiring legal consent.


13. Battery to Bridges Content and Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise indicated, the text, graphics, organization, design, original photographs, maps, logos, and other original materials created by Battery to Bridges and displayed on this website are owned by or licensed to Battery to Bridges and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

We encourage the sharing of links to our website and reasonable quotation of our materials for civic, educational, journalistic, and noncommercial purposes with appropriate attribution.

Our materials may not be falsely attributed, materially altered in a misleading way, sold, or used to imply Battery to Bridges' endorsement without permission.

Third-party photographs, maps, reports, agency materials, trademarks, logos, and other content remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to separate terms or licenses.


14. Partner Organizations and Government Agencies

Battery to Bridges works with and communicates about numerous community organizations, nonprofit groups, public officials, government agencies, businesses, educational institutions, and other stakeholders.

A reference, hyperlink, logo, photograph, quotation, or description of another organization on our website does not necessarily mean that organization endorses every Battery to Bridges position or that Battery to Bridges endorses every position of that organization.

Likewise, Battery to Bridges is an independent nonprofit organization. Unless expressly stated, our website should not be interpreted as an official publication of the City of New York, State of New York, any government agency, elected official, community board, or partner organization.

Our website may link to external websites and services, including those operated by government agencies, nonprofit partners, social-media providers, media organizations, fundraising platforms, mapping services, event providers, and other third parties.

Battery to Bridges does not control those websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices, accuracy, or terms.

Government plans, waterfront projects, budgets, construction timelines, regulations, public proposals, elected officials, agency responsibilities, maps, and other information may change.
